Can I buy a Windows license online and have you install it?
Unfortunately, no. Customer-provided Windows licenses cannot be installed on our VPS platform.
Why we can’t use your license
Two main reasons:
Administrative burden
Presenting to Microsoft which servers have customer-owned licenses would create significant paperwork for staff. As a Microsoft Certified Service Provider, reporting obligations would become unmanageable tracking individual customer licenses across infrastructure.
License validity concerns
We cannot verify if purchased licenses are valid for VPS use. Most Windows licenses sold online fall into two categories:
- OEM licenses: Tied to specific hardware, cannot legally transfer to third-party hosted virtual machines
- Retail licenses: Licensed by Microsoft for use on your own hardware, not hosted VPS
Both types violate Microsoft’s licensing terms when used on cloud hosting provider infrastructure.
How Windows licensing works with us
As a Microsoft Certified Service Provider, we provide properly licensed Windows through Microsoft’s Service Provider License Agreement (SPLA). Licensing costs are automatically included in VPS price based on CPU core count.
This means:
- Windows installations are fully Microsoft licensing compliant
- No separate license purchases or tracking required
- We handle all licensing paperwork and compliance
