Accessing your Windows 2012 remote desktop is quite easy. From your Windows computer, find an application called "Remote Desktop Connection". If you are using a Mac, just install the free "Microsoft Remote Desktop" app from the AppStore.

Once you do that, enter the username and password you set up during the deployment of your new Windows server. Within seconds, the virtual server's Windows 2012 desktop will show up. Then, just use the server as you would any other Windows 2012 operating system.

Do you still recommend Windows 2012?

Microsoft invested billions of dollars in the development of Windows 2012, its kernel and incredible filesystem. It is, in our personal opinion, the best thing to have come out of Microsoft in a long time. It is incredibly stable! In fact, we use Windows 2012 internally for many of our essential functions. However, many of our clients require Windows 2012 due to limitations in their custom apps.

How much RAM and CPU do you recommend?

Unlike Linux' low RAM requirements, Windows 2012 does require a good amount of RAM. Although it can run with as low as 1 GB, we recommend at least 4 GBs. However, if you will be using a web browser inside your Windows 2016 cloud virtual server, we recommend at least 8GBs of RAM and four CPUs. Web browsers are notorious for using a lot of RAM!

Are other versions of Windows available?

Absolutely! All of Microsoft's server editions, as well as several desktop editions of Windows, such as Windows 10, are available.
