Accessing your Windows VPS remote desktop is quite easy. From your Windows computer, find an application called "Remote Desktop Connection". If you are using a Mac, just install the free "Microsoft Remote Desktop" app from the AppStore.

Once you do that, enter the username and password you set up during the deployment of your new Windows server. Within seconds, the virtual server's Windows VPS desktop will show up. Then, just use the server as you would any other Windows VPS operating system.

Why make the leap to Windows 2016?

Microsoft invested billions of dollars in the development of Windows 2016, its kernel and incredible filesystem. It is, in our personal opinion, the best thing to have come out of Microsoft in a long time. It is incredibly stable! In fact, we use Windows 2016 internally for many of our essential functions, and not a single Windows 2016 server has ever crashed.

How fast will it be?

Quite! However, always take into account the fact that the Windows 2016 virtual server is on a server "far" from you, not right in front of you, and that you are accessing it via your local Internet provider. If your Internet is slow, well, accessing the remote desktop of the cloud Windows 2016 server will also be slow. Also, when deploying your virtual server, always choose the closest data center for better performance. The closer it is, the faster it will be.

How much RAM and CPU do you recommend?

Unlike Linux' low RAM requirements, Windows does require a good amount of RAM. Although it can run with as low as 1 GB, we recommend at least 4. Running server applications in it is quite efficient, however, if you will be using a web browser inside your Windows 2016 cloud virtual server, we recommend at least 8GBs of RAM and four CPUs. Web browsers are notorious for using a lot of RAM!
